I thought I would say something about returning to normality again (well, back to whatever normality is for me) and so back to my writing life.

I wanted to write a bit here first before I introduced you to the poem You Can Always Say “No!” The word no can be extremely powerful.

We were actually quite fortunate when Johnathan was born, because I half expected him to be autistic (there is autism in my family) and I believe Kevin is probably on the spectrum too.

I have been thinking about our relationship and I would say it’s actually beginning to get better, in spite of the double stay in the hospital.

Today I had a, let me say an unusual predicament. I had a line of one of my poems and each word was lined up nicely on the left hand side.

One of the things I wanted to talk about was something that happened to us this morning. It’s been something we have been dealing with for quite some time.

Have you ever looked back on things with a sense of nostalgia - a tear in your eye and smile on your face? I don’t know about you, but I love looking back at some things and remembering the good bits.

Well, actually, that’s a yes and a no. There are some good and bad things about them. You meet all sorts of people who are there to care for you because you can’t be nursed or looked after at home.

I thought I would touch on this aspect of autism because this is something a lot of people on the spectrum experience without really understanding that they are doing it.

Johnathan asked me (while I was in hospital) if I could write about changes and I think he’s right so I decided that I would focus on sudden changes.

I was just driven to write this by a picture with words on I was doing some digital colouring on. And it made me consider the differences between the two.
