The Power of “No!”

I wanted to write a bit here first before I introduced you to the poem You Can Always Say “No!”

The word no can be extremely powerful.  It can sometimes stop abuse from happening, it can give the person the ability to believe they can or won’t do something.

So as I am going through therapy and discovering the ability of the word no, and what it can do to change thoughts, then feelings, then actions.

I will admit that I know a lot of people, like myself believed that poems were something they just “didn’t” do.  So I want to gradually introduce poems to you and see if you like them for what they are.

You Can Always Say “No!”

You can always say “No!”

When trouble comes your way someday

You don’t have to say “Yes”

If your heart then denies it

Deep inside you don’t feel worthy

You believe that you’re useless

Even though others will tell you

It bounces off the heart and mind

Saying “No” can be hard

When you’re not used to doing so

Always appearing to give consent

Though you knew it sapped your mind.

But the time to change your life is now

Learning how and when to say “No”

Is part of life and always will be

You’ll be happier when you know it.
