Are there times you see something and you think “”yeah, that won’t work” or “come on, seriously, show me something sensible!”

My son Johnathan and his Dad play most evenings and I enjoy watching and chatting to them about what they are doing and the things I understand about their video games.

Smiling is an extremely important activity in life. Apparently it takes less muscles than it does to frown. Having said that, on my wedding day I smiled so much my face hurt on both sides of my mouth.

Yesterday, I sat down and was looking at my emails and wondering what was in them and in one there was a challenge for seven minutes to write What I really want to say is and just go and get it said.

“What?” you ask. “That’s ridiculous! Why on earth would you worry about ordering something?” Well, let me tell you a bit about autism.

I thought that today I would write about bits and bobs. They are little things you know or have learned for some reason or other.

One of the central things that people on the spectrum need is routine. Johnathan was in a terrible state on Monday Bank Holiday after Easter Sunday.

I had another fall earlier this evening. Annoying. I mean, REALLY annoying. I was trying to help Kevin by going into the porch area or the cats area.

By not? If you have laid down rules in the house, every one of your children MUST obey them 100% of the time, surely? Of COURSE we have to respond every time, don’t we?

There are what I think of as a few types of games in Johnathan’s life – ones that he found on the internet and was extremely careful about what he chose, even as a young child.

Ok, yes, If you’ve read anything in the past about the subject you will know I am a sucker for them – well, most of them.

Yes, I suppose it’s a weird topic for me to discuss, but that’s nothing new.  It’s the inspiration we get when we get it that we write about (ok, well I do, (as most discovery writers). 

And that is the simple truth - you have to realise that as a parent, carer or guardian of someone with special needs their need does NOT end once they have the diagnosis.
