Wedding dresses and other things

Ok, yes, If you’ve read anything in the past about the subject you will know I am a sucker for them – well, most of them.   I really admire the people who are masters of their  design skills and ability to put these dresses together because it really is a skill that mere dressmaking doesn’t compare to the work they do!

I suppose it was more erm, obvious to me that the people who got the dresses out and helped their clients to choose and dress themselves, actually end up coaching their client through the trying on and paying for the dress that was chosen.

In a shop like Curvy Brides Boutique (for women that are larger) the psychology they have to use is epic.  I have seen them comfort girls, speak to the accompanying crowd and even go to put the dress on the girl at the wedding, or talk someone through how to do it.

For years, I kind of accepted it while watching these documentaries  somewhere in my head.  I loved my wedding dress, but I will admit it was my bridesmaid who told me I was NOT buying a dress from a shop that would “do” for my wedding.  And I ended up with a stunning dress, that everyone complimented me on.

In fact, I think that was one of the first things I did that helped me to begin to believe that I HAD value and was worthy of having nice things.
