What I really want to say is
Yesterday, I sat down and was looking at my emails and wondering what was in them and in one there was a challenge for seven minutes to write What I really want to say is and just go and get it said.
Uh-oh..I’ve ordered something
“What?” you ask. “That’s ridiculous! Why on earth would you worry about ordering something?” Well, let me tell you a bit about autism.
Bits and bobs
I thought that today I would write about bits and bobs. They are little things you know or have learned for some reason or other.
World Autism Day
Do you know, I have felt really bad because I missed it! It was actually yesterday and I just didn’t clock the fact. My brain and body have been so mixed up this last week.
The trouble with no routine and people with autism.
One of the central things that people on the spectrum need is routine. Johnathan was in a terrible state on Monday Bank Holiday after Easter Sunday.
Over 2k people
I can’t remember if I’ve told you how much I appreciate you coming and reading the posts I’ve written. You see, I write with my reader in mind.
Rainbows and Easter
You might think this is a weird combination to be talking about to you. But there was a beautifully clear rainbow this week that Kevin took a photo of and I’m sharing with you today.
Books books books
Yes, I know I haven’t written many blog posts but I have been working on starting books and beginning to figure out how to do it all.
Coffee Shop
You find yourself strangely attracted to a stranger at your local coffee shop.
Start your story with someone making a cup of tea - for themselves or someone else
“Come ON, girl! Make that tea! What’s taking you so long?” I took a quick glance into the sitting room as I passed to go through to the kitchen to work out who was there and what their tea preferences were.
Jamie Stewart Design Collaboration
Jamie Stewart design has helped author and poet Anika Speaks to bring a burst of creativity to the world in the form of a captivating poster series.
This and that
I had another fall earlier this evening. Annoying. I mean, REALLY annoying. I was trying to help Kevin by going into the porch area or the cats area.
Can you win by not engaging with a child?
By not? If you have laid down rules in the house, every one of your children MUST obey them 100% of the time, surely? Of COURSE we have to respond every time, don’t we?
Johnathan’s Games
There are what I think of as a few types of games in Johnathan’s life – ones that he found on the internet and was extremely careful about what he chose, even as a young child.
Wedding dresses and other things
Ok, yes, If you’ve read anything in the past about the subject you will know I am a sucker for them – well, most of them.
Brace yourself - we’re in it for the long haul
And that is the simple truth - you have to realise that as a parent, carer or guardian of someone with special needs their need does NOT end once they have the diagnosis.
Disabled adapted properties abroad
As you know if you’ve read anything of mine over some time, I enjoy seeing all sorts of housing programmes - both at home and abroad.
Looking at life
Looking at life as a child, You tend to believe what you’re told, And even when you are grown up, The life you live reflects that.
How my disability can affect the family life
I wasn’t sure how to tackle this post actually. But all disabilities affect us and our family live in one way.
