Talking of triggers

Well, you wouldn’t believe what happened to me today.  Actually, technically it wasn’t intended for me in the first place but there you go.  Sometimes the things that are not intended FOR you make the biggest impact.  And that happened to me today.

I had gone to bed comparatively early last night - in reality, I don’t remember because I fell asleep in my chair so Kevin got me to go to bed.  And I didn’t wake until he got me up sometime before 10am…..yeah.  Long sleep.

Kevin had popped into tesco on his way home from getting some bits and pieces we needed because when he went to get the shopping delivered today, ALL the slots were booked.  Now this has not happened for a number of years - not even at Christmas!

While he was there he saw an etching book that he got for Johnathan.  Now Johnathan has never had anything like this, and I was watching him get to grips with it from my chair, while he was at the table.  I couldn’t resist the lure of what he was doing so I got up and went to watch him more closely.

Johnathan said his hand was aching so I asked him if I could sit and do some and he said yes.  OH!  The joy and peace and feeling of lovely stillness, where you are almost suspended in time between past and present and the good feelings that bridge the gap between the past and now!

I found myself sitting there, just focusing on what I was doing and letting the wooden blade open different areas of the page and singing quietly to myself.  At one point I asked Johnathan if he wanted to do some more and he told me to carry on.

Triggers.  What a WONDERFUL one that was.
