So here I am
So here I am in the middle of the night, writing again. It is a habit many writers possess. Well, actually many creative people do. And that’s ok. Actually Kevin has often spoken to me about the type of specialised computer professionals who simply seem to live on it and are always tinkering on them or something else.
As I have said many times before, everybody is different and you can’t expect people to be clones or drones. That may happen in films and could also happen in real life, when people live in communes or something like that. I am well aware that people don’t understand living in a society like, that, or the cultural differences in nations, but it doesn’t mean they aren’t there.
The other day I was chatting to someone from Nigeria and we were discussing the things that were different there to here in Scotland. When you move country, even if you speak the same language, you don’t always understand why the culture works in a different way to what you imagine the new society expects you to accept even if it is different to what you’ve known all your life.
You may have read my writing before and realised I moved from England to Scotland now 14 years ago – my goodness, it was longer ago than I thought it was! Fortunately being a great reader I understood some differences, but I still found it difficult to live with at first. But now Scotland is my home country and haggis isn’t the worst thing in the world to get used to!
My life didn’t turn out the way I expected, and I am well aware, as are you, that covid and the lockdowns changed many lives and made decisions totally different for many people.
