News in a Nutshell
Well, i went into hospital before Valentine’s Day and returned home before Easter. It has been really weird trying to get back to ‘normal” life again, but with needing more support than I did before. Ok, let me rephrase that! i have needed it for some time but haven’t got.
Adjusting back to home life after any hospital stay can be complex and after a long stay even more so. And, as i am sure I have mentioned the fact that with autism routine is everything to the way their brains work. So Johnathan is not finding it easy either. Any little noise I make instantly sends him into panic in case something else has gone wrong.
Johnathan is only going by what he has got used to recently and he has got far too used to having me in the house for a short while and then leaving for the hospital and he never knows when it’s going to happen. And that’s not fair on him. The suddenness of my departures are not really conducive to family life.
So i am going to take the promise of hope and look for a better way to be. Fortunately i have now met a consultant who not only knows my somewhat rare conditon, but knew exactly what was bothering me and how to begin to help me. Then he AND he is going to be able to continue seeing me as an outpatient.
Oh yes! Have I told you I have a cpap mask? Well, we have FINALLY found a mask and headgear that (mostly) works for me. And SUCH a relief it is! I think I’m not getting the full benefit of it because my pain isn’t under control so it means I am not going into deep sleep (which is of course where your body can heal).
So life is looking brighter, not bleaker and there is hope on the horizon. Okay, it’’s not totally clear how everything is going to work together but to even know there IS a combination of factors that can mean a massive difference to our lives means there is HOPE.
TREASURE
We can all have hope from the Easter/Spring promise of hope that things can change in our lives. So take courage. It just might take time. A flower doesn’t go from a seed to fully blooming in a day.
