Games in Life

I’m going to talk about something I never imagined myself to write about.  Games.  There are so many different ones.  Ones you play alone, ones you play with other people.  Ones that are for older children and others for younger ones.  Ones that are “manual” (for want of a better word) and others that are digital and others that are online completely.  Some you can play on the television, too.  Actually even more than I thought.  You can divide them into different areas, different sections etc.  Some have been played for thousands of years, others have only just been created.  It doesn’t matter.  Games that use something and games that don’t.  Party games.

Ok, ok, I guess I’ve now gotten into the nitty gritty of games….but you don’t need me to tell you all of these things.  You probably know most of them yourself, anyway.  Oh goodness!  You know what I DID forget?  Those massive arcade machines that my brother used to play a lot.  I remember there was one in Tenerife (I think) in the restaurant we used to go to in the evenings.  And the annoying thing was that I couldn’t pull the lever far enough back to get the ball to go into the machine and go into whatever section or whatever it was.

See?  There are games that we can do easily and games that are MUCH harder for us to do.  For example, the very first time we got a Mario racing game for the wii, it came BEFORE Kevin was due home from work and Johnathan obviously wanted to play it as he had been excitedly talking to his Dad about it arriving and they were both extremely anxious waiting for its arrival.

Well, Kevin told me it was easy to get the wii switched on.  Hm.  Yes, I had to ring him at least 3 times for that.  Then I was trying to get the game to work and kept ringing Kevin who told me to just point the controls at the tv.  I WAS!  I was pointing those things at the tv using the long side of the remote.  I didn’t know what he meant!

Eventually Kevin decided to come home early with a bunch of flowers to unravel the disaster I had unknowingly created.  I tried to play the game, but quite frankly I wasn’t able to get the different types of vehicle ANYWHERE….my path was….unique.  Yes, let’s use the word unique.

But there are other games I CAN play.  They have to be on the easy (much easier) end of the games industry.  There are some I do enjoy and I can accept my knowledge is scant, but if Kevin and Johnathan are playing something I can talk to them about it and enjoy the game that way.

Just find the way that is best for you to join in with the family and don’t worry about whether you can play the games well.  You do what you love and take the relaxation you need in the way you have to.
