Feel the fear

I actually was just thinking about this.  One year I read a book all about feeling the fear but going on and doing it.  Now, I have been considering the fact that we don’t tend to mention the differences in simple fears and actual long held anxiety.

Because, you know, there is a difference AND a difference for the TYPE of person that is facing whatever is in front of them.  Now PLEASE don’t get me wrong here.  I’m NOT saying that you should USE this and other methods to help yourself.  And it’s WONDERFUL news if you can and it does.

However, with someone like me who had other issues as well it’s not quite as easy as that.  You need a professional and not ONLY”a professional” but one that “gets” you.  Because if you don’t have that kind of relationship with your therapist,  the treatment simply doesn’t work.  And it can cause issues.

I don’t know if I’ve told you but it has taken nearly 15 years to find not only the right kind of therapist (I didnt know where to go or who to turn to).  And quite honestly it was another counsellor who suggested I needed psychodynamic therapy, AND she knew someone who had the necessary qualifications.  Turns out the woman she recommended to me is the PERFECT one.  She is happy to do video calls and that is a real help to me.

So I would suggest to take care what you do.  Mental health is JUST as or even more important than physical health.
