Expectations

I smile when I think about this because there are SO MANY we have in life and meeting someone who has completely different expectations can cause some funny moments, others you can’t see anything to laugh about, ones that make you smile, big and small.

When Kevin and I first met, of course he had totally different expectations of his future life partner.  We are both disabled and quite frankly always thought we would marry someone disabled.  His parents expected him to marry someone that would look after him and do everything for him.

So I think I was a big shock to them all!  And THEY were an even BIGGER shock to me, I think.  I had left England, met Kevin, knew he was the man I was going to marry and after that it was preparing for the wedding.  Oh and moving house.  Kevin lived in Anniesland in Glasgow and I was in Renfrew at the time.  And I STILL had some stuff to be brought up to me when I could get it.

I will admit I didn’t know much about the Scots, but my friend had been from near where I am now and I learned some things from her.  I had read some George McDonald books that were translated from Scottish to English and I had read a book on Scotland.  Oh and been there once before.

But at the end of the day expectations in themselves I guess don’t really matter.  At the end of the day it is all about love for the family.  And I love them both with all my heart and want to SEE the best for them and BE the best that I can be for them.
