Songs
Do you ever have a song in mind, that you just can’t get to STOP? I have one on my mind for the last few days. And that’s not anything that happens to you. It brings back the past, too.
There are songs that you listen to. Some you would like to dance to – fast music, slow music a year, a date, some friend you met outside and music was chosen to be some Christmas or whatever. What you listen to at a time – you get the picture…or song, in this case.
I was just thinking of the Coronation music – every piece chosen with care and the timing was also done in order to proceed marked by people who were before Buckingham Palace. The crowds were excited, singing some patriotic songs at different times too.
Many years ago, I was in Cornwall with a group of people. As it is with a large company, not everybody wants to go to the beach. I am one of them. So once I found nobody else wanted to go into town with me, I went alone.
But what does this have to do with songs and music? Well, I actually met a male friend in the town who ALSO hadn’t wanted to sit on the beach and we started chatting and ended up going for a cream tea in a cafe in town.
I could see the lady who served us thought we were in a relationship and when she went to set the order in, the music changed to the Carpenters! Well! I must admit K love Karen Carpenter’s voice, but it wasn’t needed, although it was cute.
When we finished I said I would pay my share and he, as the gentleman he is, refused to accept any money from me and the lady said “Oh go on love. Let ‘im pay for ya!” So at that point I did.
And even though we never actually went out with each other, the memory of listening to Karen Carpenter while having a cream tea with a friend brings a smile to my face.
TREASURE
Sometimes it’s the little things that count and songs can put you in a reminiscent mood, which brings a smile to your face.
