Interesting Experience/Episode

The other day I had the professional organiser Elaine round and as usual the time spent with her was unique, personal and special.  We take the time to chat through things and she often shows me things in a different perspective and that really helps our family

This time, her main activity was to put the Christmas tree up for us.  That is a really special event for me and I enjoy it very much.  And we love chatting and talking through different issues.  And she helps me organise different areas (looks like we’re going to have a lot more to sort come January, especially after Christmas and figuring out where all the presents will go.

Before Elaine could put the Christmas tree up, we needed to get the coffee table cleared (yet again) because it starts slowly building up with stuff over time and we keep thinking we must get some of it off and back to where it should be instead of where it is.

Another very important task for me was getting a painting by my friend Leanne Hughes put up on the wall.  I can’t remember if it was Christmas or birthday Johnathan was presented with these wee plastic/y things that stick to the wall and should travel down the wall.  Well, they stuck to the wall and stayed where they were.  Unfortunately that meant that the wall became marked so I wanted the painting to cover them and also for me to have a painting that meant a great deal to me that would help calm and inspire me right next to me on the wall.  I can turn and look at it without trouble and it puts a smile on my face every time.

Elaine has been excellent at demonstrating how things will make a difference to our family or my life in particular.  She often talks about mess and disorganisation as something to be sorted before it gets out of hand (hm, empty coffee table in particular?).

What she did this time was show me the painting and put it in front of the mess on the dining table in the living room.  Now I had thought that the mess on the table was ok because it was in tubs.  So I was startled to find when Elaine lifted the painting up, my whole demeanour changed!  I could feel my shoulders sagging, my smile and good mood racing out of my body.  She then put the painting back over it and I was smiling again.  How’s that for a demonstration?!
