Fitting clothes and autism

Now this (as any carer of someone with autism) is a trial and a half.  The child has particular needs that need to be met when choosing something for them to wear.

We have had a slight issue with Johnathan this year and the jackets and shoes.  Basically he refuses to wear them.  This is beginning to cause difficulty in doing different things at school.

You can’t allow a child to go outside in 20+ weather in what is basically a  thick duvet covering him.  Yes, he might find it comfortable, but there’s a point you HAVE to say no.

Fortunately Kevin took him to the shops on Saturday morning and he got him a rain jacket and SANDALS for Johnathan.  I’ve not persuaded him into sandals EVER!  So I was pleasantly surprised and you can see a very happy boy on the top of this post in his summer jacket and sandals.

Sometimes it’s what you have to do.  Take time to make sure that your child is happy in the clothes and shoes they are/need to wear.
