Crowning of Charles III in Scotland
I don’t know if you are aware, but I am a Royalist in many ways. And today, with his Majesty King Charles III being crowned, I wished to see this event take place. It’s an interesting thing that he is crowned in Edinburgh and London and doesn’t just have one crowning to celebrate the occasion.
A few years ago, King Charles bought Dumfries House in Scotland which was falling apart, and has brought it back to what it should always have been - a glorious place in Scotland. Now I must admit, in spite of my desire to go there as a family, it hasn’t yet taken place. They have many visitors going and it’s been restored.
There are many duties that a member of the royal family has in particular, which must be carried out. And as Prince of Wales, there must have been many other things that he had to do as the heir to her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. But whenever he spoke of her, it was always with love and great affection for who she was and the work that she did.
Well, I can see I haven’t talked much of the actual ceremony so far, but I believe it to be important to acknowledge the work the royal family do for the country. I know that not all people accept the fact and I respect the fact that is their right to do so. They work incredibly hard, trying to make things better for people.
One of the things that his majesty is good at is attention to detail. Now, I understand that Queen Elizabeth II was, too. A few years ago, when I saw a documentary of some kind - not sure what one it was, but it talked about when Prince Philip allowed cameras into the royal palaces and showed more of the family life and I saw Prince Charles with his cello and I could tell the love he had for it.
So what is the point of mentioning the combination of music and detail? Well, the fact is that the details of the music were part of the interest that King Charles showed. Every piece was carefully chosen by him. He understands the role it plays on ceremonial occasions and he also understands the need for them both. Music has the power to change things due to its ability to affect emotions.
He has been pivotal in bringing back trades that were lost, or almost so, using Dumfries House and expects the people learning there to do the best they can and understand the work they do. Some of the schools in Scotland had to remove music from their offerings, but he ensured that they were able to continue. Our new king understands the difference between the past and present and I cannot wait to see his rule, however long it may be. We know there is no way he can rule for as long as his mother did, but that’s ok. He can still continue to leave an imprint on the history of the United Kingdom anyway.
