Compassion to friends and family
So we are down to friends and family. Well, it’s not down, really. It’s the ONE place in your life where you need to have grace and mercy, not judgement.
For myself, I find that often instead of showing compassion I judge what they are doing because I forget who they are and what they can/can’t do. And this is NOT their fault!
Maybe, if I was willing to show compassion more in my own home, Johnathan would find it more delightful to spend time with me. He is absolutely desperate to do some cooking with me and now that he is ten years old, I think it’s time I was compassionate enough to show him what to do and how to finish the job.
Judgement doesn’t help you in situations where you need to show compassion to your family. In fact, it causes the loved one to feel resentful if they cannot do whatever you demand.
So I would love for you to show compassion to your family. What is one way you can do so? Put it out there and make sure you begin doing it so the family member feels how special it is.
