A word came to me
Do you know how difficult it can be to find words to use and sometimes something just really clicks with you even when you’re wondering what to say? You are no doubt aware that I am a discovery writer, just as a friend of mine is what I would call a discovery painter. We do it with INSPIRATION.
And I don’t mean by that there is anything wrong with planning every little thing out – if that’s how you work – God bless you and do your best and give yourself a break.
So when a word comes to me, I have to find a way to express it. Even at 4am. Gosh I couldn’t believe it! I was fast asleep, and woke up, looked at the dog who was still asleep, so no, SHE wasn’t the one who woke me. Then I remembered the word skittering because THAT was the only word that fitted what she was doing.
I would really love to share this poem with you all. It’s exactly what she did!
A word came to me the other day
And it wasn’t one that I use often
In fact I don’t even know
If anybody does anymore.
I was letting Maisie into the house
And the only way to describe it
Was skittering, just skittering
As she was getting back in the house
I wondered when I could use it
Such a delightful word
I think that I might use it again
In some small corner of my work
I would love to hear your thoughts about my posts. You can contact me ANYTIME but please don’t phone me at 3am because my son will wake and that will be the end of my night.
