Interesting Idea
This wasn’t originally what I thought it was going to be. Actually that happens quite a lot. And it isn’t really a problem because what I write in the end is often much better than the original idea.
And talking of original ideas reminds me of the interesting idea I was wanting to explore with you. Now, I know not many people love writing as much as I do and probably wouldn’t be interested in it.
I will admit that I had heard that if you do some writing it helps your mental health and also Johnathan found it true a few times. I didn’t see what he wrote because of course as a journal, unless he wished to show me and he didn’t.
But I had never used this method for myself. Truthfully, I think I just wasn’t sure if it would work. I mean, I write ALL the time, as you know. But it doesn’t mean I am getting therapy through my writing.
Therapy writing is DIFFERENT. It is not just putting words on the paper. It’s getting the emotions out of you and helping you to explore WHY you feel the way you do. It’s addressing those you never could have done and putting into words what you wished you had said to them but didn’t.
It’s finding out the who you were and where you are now. There is so much more to it and it draws you out and drains you but leaves you so much better than you started before you wrote.
So I guess what I am trying to say is that if you want to try therapy writing - GO FOR IT! I KNOW you are going to be surprised at what it does for you.
