Anika’s Pick of the Week 14
Well, as you know I am back home after some time in hospital. It is wonderful starting to pick up family life again and have my own bed to sleep in. Life, as you are well aware, can leave a whole sense of emotions that we don’t expect.
One of the things I was thinking about was that this month is the Thanksgiving American people look forward to all year and enjoy a wonderful celebration. Also, there is the idea that we should all feel grateful for what we have.
Have you ever been in a situation where you have ended up crying over someone’s kindness? I was quite surprised that I was during this visit to the hospital. Do you know that even in the worst times sometimes you can be shown kindness that just moves you to tears?
Actually I suppose I could be led more to tears when I am in hospital than when I am home because it is an unusual situation and one that heightens the emotions. But this was quite something for me.
I was beginning to get a sore and one of the auxiliaries told me that she was organising changing the mattress and getting other people there to help me go from one mattress to the other. And this kindness totally unnerved me. She was one of the best people looking after me during the three weeks.
TREASURE
Kindness and gratitude are concepts that go together because we are always grateful for kindnesses that are shown us – whether it is something from a person, or another thing.
