Experience always tells
Many years ago I used to get kidney stones and I can tell you they are SERIOUSLY painful. In fact, some people say they are more painful than childbirth.
Dunno about that, but I DO know they are hell to suffer with. And as it makes its way to your bladder, you feel it in the tubes and oh my goodness, it hurts!
A friend at the time saw me trying to function with one and told me to stop being silly and go home to bed. Bed can be good or bad because sometimes you need to walk a bit to get the stone moving again.
Then it happened! My friend was abroad and suddenly got a kidney stone. She actually FAINTED with the pain of it! When she got back to England she told me she could see it was painful from my face but she had to do labour pain breathing it was so bad.
So, if you haven’t experienced something yourself, that’s ok. Nobody expects you to have all the same experiences as them. BUT you CAN be sympathetic and listen to the NEED behind what they are going through and help and support them by being there and listening to them (and for some of them, bring CHOCOLATE ANYTHING)!
Experience always shows but you can still be there for someone who has gone through something you haven’t.
